If you're on the move between Escalante and Boulder then it's worth a sixty minute stop off here. The trailhead, 15 miles north of Escalante and immediately north of the Escalante river bridge, is shared with with the popular Escalante River Trail, The parking lot is likely to be busy but most people are there for the main trail. There are no signs for 100 Hands.

From the lot cross over a private road and hike up an obvious half mile trail which is periodically cairned. You'll encounter a few obstacles along the way until you reach a wash. The exit from the wash is cairned but easily missed. From here stay on the trail that's closest to the base of the cliffs (there's a fork which can have you heading off in the wrong direction). Look out for more rock art panels as you go. Within around 20 minutes you'll arrive at 100 Hands panel, way above you in a shallow alcove – it's why the handprints are so well preserved. Binoculars are helpful.

Continue on the trail a little way for two more panels. On the return hike enjoy the scenic views over the meandering river below.
